Sunday Checkin

You may arrive at Camp Joy no earlier than 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 3. Please try to arrive between 1:00 and 2:00 since Sunday is an extremely busy day at camp and we need all the time we can get for setting up our campsite, registering, swim tests, medical rechecks, etc.

When you arrive at the front gate of camp you may be stopped and told where to go. That should be the parking lot. If no one is there please go to the parking lot anyway.

We are allowed ONE, and only one, vehicle in our campsite and we may not even be allowed that. If we are, it will be the Scoutmaster's truck with Troop trailer attached. DO NOT GO TO OUR CAMPSITE WITH YOUR VEHICLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Is that enough exclamation points to get your attention?) We are so close to the parking lot this year that Scouts shouldn't have any issue carrying their gear to our campsite. The troop cart will be available for this, but some have found "garden carts" to be a suitable substitute.
I repeat — DO NOT GO TO OUR CAMPSITE WITH YOUR VEHICLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All campers should remain in the parking lot or pavillion area until we are checked in. That will save us from trying to figure out where everyone is when we need to get our picture taken or go to med recheck or whatever.

During camp setup on Sunday please do not place any personal equipment on any picnic tables! Find an out of the way spot to put it in while camp is set up.

Scouts and adult campers should arrive in full Class "A" uniform. Wear your swim trunks under your Scout shorts/pants so you don't have to change for the swim check. It can be very problematic to change into a swimsuit when no tents are set up yet.

Checkin/Checkout during session

Word-for-word from the Camp Leaders Guide:

Camper: Scout Release Form is completed at the camp office and must be approved by the Camp Director. Camper may leave only with the parent or guardian, or with written release from either one. Any adult picking up a camper will be required to show proof of ID before the scout is released.
Adult: Sign out in the Checkout book located at the Camp Office.

So if you need to pick up your son during the week for some reason be ready for some, ahem, regulatory paperwork.

Saturday Checkout

You may pick up your son any time after 9:00 AM Saturday, June 9. While sooner is generally better than later, leaving before our campsite is down and cleaned up just leaves that much more work for those left behind. Gentle reminder...
